I have to say I was a bit nervous coming to Florence , I’ve never traveled alone before, but, turns out it was the best thing I could have done. It was so nice being on my own schedule and getting to see the things I wanted to see and do the things I wanted to do. I felt so free and happy. I stayed in a great hotel called the Grand Minerva, which was right in the middle of Piazza Santa Maria Novella, also located around the block from the train station. I felt very safe here and met so many nice people. Its now been five days since I got here and I know the city like the back of my hand. I saw every landmark there is to see, every museum, and yet still I could spend another week here! I’m in love with this city. The food, the people, the beauty, nothing compares. Must do activities in Florence are Palazzo Pitti, beautiful gardens and grottos, Galleria deli Uffizi, saw just about every important painter I studied in my art history courses, the Duomo, an obvious attraction and I suggest you hike to the top, the view is unbeatable, Piazzale Michelangelo, also has a spectacular view of Florence and a fake of the David. If you are here for three days or more get the Firenze Card! Buy it online at firenzecard.it or any tour shop in Florence, it allows you access to over 80 museums, galleries, gardens, etc, anddd you get to skip the lines! Trust me its worth it. More to come! Barcelona is up next!
